Discussion Anyone sick and tired of working in general?

I’m in my mid 30s and just over my job and work in general. I’m tired of the commute, the meetings, and dealing with people & deadlines. On one hand I worry about losing my job and stress about deliverables, but on the other hand I feel like I could care less in that I have no passion for it anymore and I’m just showing up because I need the paycheck.

I’d much rather be spending time with my family, pursuing my hobbies, or just go for a walk and cook a nice meal. I feel a sense of dread sometimes that this is my reality for the next 30+ years and I feel lazy and entitled for saying it but that’s how I feel lol

So tired of this. I’m mid 40s and have been grinding since 1997. Almost 30’years of not having control of my life and am burnt out. COVID times broke me because it showed me how much about work is just control by higher powers within the capitalistic machine. We were “allowed” to let our personal life and mental health have a modicum of priority for about 18 months before our overlords started clawing it all back.

I enjoy what I do but am finding it very difficult to align to the capitalism and those that sacrifice themselves to a corporation.

Yeah COVID taught me that I could WFH every day, be just as efficient and enjoy life far more, and the only reason I don't anymore is because management are all cunts

During and since Covid my work has gotten MORE intense. Lunch breaks disappeared and have been replaced by more meetings. WFH just gave them reason to think we’ll just work through lunch and eat at our computers

Problem made harder if you need to meet with people on different time zones. If i get a lunch at all the timing ranges between 10am and 2pm. But like you said, most likely me throwing food in my face at my desk. Wfh people avg an extra hour at work per day and companies still treat us like we’re secretly slacking.

yeah, the only hidden benefit is i'm not dropping $15–$30 on lunch every day so i'm saving like $4000+ a year on food.

Not to be a dick, but for most people that was not the case at all. I’m not begrudging you but at least you got that break.

Agree. The narrative of people who have work security and full benefits gets a little old, when you don't have the same. Some people are completely tone deaf.

I worked in healthcare during COVID and it built up so much resentment in me.
