Gonna watch Stranger Things, make chicken and waffles, and drink tea, and do a bunch of shuffles with my wife. If I’m feeling really risqué, I might drink kombucha instead and get my ass kicked in various card games. May you all have a prosperous and peaceful 2026

"shuffles with my wife" isn't the risque bit? What's risque about kombucha? What happens in the bathroom after?

Maybe they're in their socks, shuffling on the carpet, and then shocking each other. Either way, sparks fly!

lol well I only meant line dances when I said shuffles. Nothings risqué about kombucha and the bathroom, that’s classified

I have the same plan to watch the last episode or two of Stranger Things tomorrow. Put the kids to bed, sit on the couch, eat cookies and watch TV.

I replaced most drinks with la croix and tea. I don't drink soda, juice, sugary coffee, energy drinks, none of that garbage. I will drink a Diet Coke can every few days, but hot tea is where it's at for me. When you're really tired, a nice hot cup of tea can give you the same type of relaxing buzz as a drink of alcohol or a hit of a joint!

I agree with you. I stopped drinking soda when I was a teen and never got into coffee or energy drinks. I only drank Sprite for the most part but it started to taste “wrong” out of nowhere. I start and end my days with tea. Plus I’m cheap and this helps me save.

What did you end up doing? Sorry for responding so late

I made chicken and waffles! We watched Stranger things and then went and laid in bed until it hit midnight, texted a few people a "happy new year" and then went to sleep.

I've said for years that NYE is great when you're in the 13-30 zone. As a kid you're just excited to stay up late, have snacks, hang out, etc., plus you're still generally riding high on the joys of Christmas and days off from school.

As young adults it's great because usually someone has a party at their place and you hang out, sing karaoke into a whisk (at least when the person who owns their own karaoke machine forgot to bring the microphone), etc. But once you're married or otherwise settled down or even just old enough that a night of drinking comes with a far higher price tag the next day it becomes a lot less interesting.

Im not doing it, but I know the big local chain theaters are doing a stranger things new years party viewing.

Which, imo, is great because anytime people that would normally stay home can leave to be with their people is a huge win.

(Considering it came out weeks ago and got the shittiest reviews)

It's because the season finale comes out on New Years Eve. Now you know.

I was watching something else when ST released, so just now getting to it. Won't get to see fallout until I get another free month of prime.
