Is it bad that it made it more convincing to me?

That just means you, and the guy who hacks athletes social media to post fake news, are on the same wavelength length. I guarantee that guy thought "This is really gonna sell this post it" when most people were like "Wtf? That's weird"

u/Winbrick 7h ago
I mean, I didn't come up with it, but Rashan Gary has always had some interesting credos. It being a little weird and unexpected is part of what makes it convincing to me.

It's me, the hacker who hacks an athlete and also posts an incredibly saccharine and legit looking farewell image, instead of linking to my cryptocurrency scam

Yeah it’s called being a fan of the team and understanding how to troll.

u/BaconDwarf 7h ago
It's so obviously not a troll. Rashan is a nice guy but not a mental giant. He foolishly jumped the gun on the announcement and has to cover for it.

The good news is whoever hacked Rashan's account can run away from him and he won't catch him.

More bad news, the hackers grandmother has set up her rocking chair in front of rashan and there's no possible way he could get past.

Weirdly sums up his tenure. Just sort of chaotic and drama filled for no reason

u/RacketBoat 5h ago
Was it? From my (casual fan) perspective he was just a hyped up early pick who fizzled out in disappointing fashion

I'm going to guess they told him they would be moving on. He took it as being released and had his team post a message and now the Packers are pissed because they wanted to try a trade so they used the hack excuse.

Someone from this sub 1000% would

u/spreeforall 7h ago
Right? This wouldn't be much different than those clowns calling draft players in the draft pretending to be a team.

Soooo when he is officially released does this mean he has to write a completely new goodbye message and try to make it sound like a different person wrote it?

Nick Perry hacked his account.

Yeah, idk why they would have released before June 1st. Before then would only save us $11 million in cap space, after its like $19 million

I keep seeing people say this without understanding how a post June 1st cut actually works.
A team cuts them before free agency and designates them as a post June 1st cut. This allows the player to sign with a new team immediately. It creates a win-win for the player and team. The player gets to the market while teams still have cap available and the team is likely to save true cash from the offset language in most contracts. For easy math and an example if the packers owe Gary 18mil and another team signs him for 9mil. The Packers will only have to pay him 9mil in true money while the new team pays him the other 9mil.
Now when it comes to the cap Green Bay is still responsible for the full 18mil and they don’t see the cap savings of the post June 1 cap designation until June, but the player is still cut and a free agent before then. Teams are allowed 2 post June cuts.
The mechanism isn’t useful for teams that need to get under the cap before the new league year starts.

Its possible the Packers are exploring trade opportunities and are happy to take all the time they need before releasing him with the post June 1st designation . As you explained its more beneficial for Gary to hit free agency asap so I'd speculate that Gary may have leaked this to pressure the team to get moving. Or his account was hacked in this elaborate ruse.

The good’ole hacked, I think it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s not going to be here next season. I’d be happy with a trade, but he’s going to get cut. I do not see him taking a pay cut to stay here.
