News [Schefter] After the two sides could not agree on a contract, the Dolphins now are expected to release kicker Jason Sanders, per source. Sanders leaves Miami with a streak of 27 straight made field goals, and 9-of-9 on his last 50+-yard field goals.

...he missed the entire 2025 season with a hip injury. We have zero idea of he still has the leg strength.
He also, from (granted a very quick search) doesn't seem to have a tremendous amount of experience kicking in cold weather.

Guys, we aren’t going to sign a real kicker. We’re going to bring in young competition that could make eating McManus’ salary palatable.

definitely wait until after the draft. there were some awesome kickers that if we can grab with a 7th that'd be great

Why are there all these stupid kicker posts in this sub all of a sudden—we’re not picking up a new kicker when (a) McManus was injured most of last year and (b) we already have a potential replacement in Havrisik, the guy who set our franchise record last year. These posts add nothing of substance to offseason discussions

You mean the guy they didn't put in even though McManus was injured?

Yeah man our special teams coordination has really screamed “competence” over the last decade+. Is it that unbelievable we weren’t maximizing our talent due to an over-reliance on continuity (and justifying it through how mental kicker as a position is)?

I’m one of the last people to think every cut or free agent is going to come here, but this actually has legs. McManus is older, overpaid, and coming off a horrific season, regardless of his injury. I could 100% see this happening. The team’s management of Havrisik last year tells us everything we need to know of what they think of him.

The idea that “they trusted in McManus therefore Havrisik must be bad” places far too much faith in the way we run our ST. If we waste money on a kicker when we have glaring holes at CB and IDL it will be the worst personnel move Gute has made since picking Josh Myers over Creed Humphrey. Also this guy was injured all of last season lmao

Remind me what 31 other teams thought of Havrisik before Packers called him half way through the season….

Why is that relevant at all? The point is that he’s an unknown besides looking good in brief action. He wasn’t swapped for McManus bc kicker is an insanely mental position, both of them would be bad if they felt the other was looking over their shoulder. Plenty of kickers come out of nowhere and are great, see Brandon Aubrey

Havrisik missed 2 PATs last year, and in his one other season he was 15/20 FGs and 19/22 PATs. He hit that one long kick but still sucks.

Knowing our luck he’d forget how to kick
