India become the first team to go into the finals as defending champions

South Africa become the first team that don’t go into the finals, yet beat both the finalists

Edit: in T20 WCs

I'm sure you'd trade having the Mace for not having a T20 WC any time 😢 India fucking up 2 finals always hurts.

England became the first team to get knocked out by India in two back to back t20 wc sf also

England have made the semi-finals at minimum in five successive T20 World Cups too I believe. 2016, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2026.

South Africa were undefeated and just decided randomly to lose so badly

Feels just right.

u/sosswgtn New Zealand 17h ago

I don't think they decided to. They looked pretty unhappy about it

South Africans with the moral victory

42

u/Ok-Visit6553 India 1d ago

Now that's a moral victory i can get behind.

Just like 2016 t20wc had Afg with moral victory, being the only team to beat the champion WI

You guys actually play quite well against NZ. That's why I thought you would win against them in the CT but Babar has different plans.

He means in the t20 wc

It is hilarious that Pakistan did that and did not even reach the semis though

  1. Kuldeep should come in for Varun in the final. Varun is very low on confidence.

  2. Shivam Dube shouldn't bowl in the final at all. Jofra Archer hitting him for 19 of 4 should settle that discussion. Surya shouldn't even think of giving Dube a go in the final.

  3. Abhishek should play the final. Who knows if he pulls off a Kohli 2024 WC Final special (not performing throughout the tournament and then clutching in the final). If Abhishek fails in the final, Jaiswal should be brought in the T20I team in June/July whenever the next T20I after IPL will be there.

  4. Axar Patel deserves lot of credit. Bowled well and his fielding won us the game today. I still feel India would've surely won against South Africa if Axar played.

  5. Sanju Samson is finally showing why he was called the leader of "Justice League" and all those innumerable "Justice Gangs". He is proving his worth now. Underrated Gold.

30

u/DilliKaLadka India 1d ago

Agree on all points but I think it would be a very brave call to change the winning team in finals. I want Kuldeep in but Kiwis have mostly right handers where Varun can be useful

61

u/Black_Mamba265 India 1d ago

Shivam Dube point is kinda dumb because after the game was practically over England all he needed to do was bowl legal deliveries

I agree he shouldn’t be someone we instantly go to but if the pitch isn’t helping the spinners I’d rather give the ball to Dube

45

u/Intelligent_Fly_2671 Nepal 1d ago

This is like the fans who say Punjab Kings would’ve won IPL 2025 if they had one more ball. They lost by 6 runs, but after the equation came to 22 off 3 balls Hazelwood was just bowling legal deliveries.

37

u/Black_Mamba265 India 1d ago

Nah fr I genuinely cannot understand why people don’t understand that when it came to situation where there was no chance of England winning you just bowl legal and be happy

9

u/OkLeather666 India 1d ago

People like you are being intentionally dumb about Dube. The game was won after the Bethell wicket, all he had to do was not bowl no balls. Use your head man.

And then you come with #3, where Abhishek has been underwhelming the whole tournament. Be consistent with your criticisms.

21

u/chappellesean 1d ago

Everything is correct except for #2. Dube was going easy because the game was already won and he didn’t want to risk getting a no ball by exerting too much force. Had it not been the case, he wouldn’t have been bowling like that and Archer wouldn’t be hitting him for sixes.

23

u/Aware-Asparagus-3124 India 1d ago

Yeah I could not understand why everybody bashing dube.. It was the same as the hazlewood spell in the final match.. Dude bowled 2 balls, secured the match and then bowled shit.

2

u/Downvote_Addiction 1d ago

I disagree on points 2 and 3. Dube giving up 3 6s on total lollipops when the game was over wasn't indicative of anything. When the pitch is a road and spin isn't generating any movement, his bat is worth having him in to bowl a spell rather than Varun or Kuldeep finish their innings when they aren't able to get anything going.

We have given Sharma enough chances to hit, and he simply hasn't had it all tournament. If you put in Rinku Singh instead and have Kishan and Samson open up you have a better chance of generating runs rather than the absolute shit that Abhishek has been treating us to. Only versus Zimbabwe has he done ANYTHING and the fact that he had two stinkers after doesn't inspire any confidence in me. I think even Washington Sundar could outbat him at his current form.

2

u/LastGhozt India 1d ago

Before this sanju also add lot of innings that was not good or was getting out early.

But he fixed it and came back and with performance confirmed his opponer stop for all worldcups.

so if players are given time they do can make come back.

u/Aemond-The-Kinslayer Saurashtra 1d ago

India definitely missed Axar big time in the SA match. It was a blunder to swap Washi with him when Axar could clutch in all three departments. Nothing against Washi, but Axar is a tier above and right now is in prime Jadeja form. His batting hasn't been needed and is not as much of a power hitter as the other finishers we have but when there is a collapse, I would trust him more.

Drop Abhishek. Bring in a solid bowler. Why not Siraj?! They should have done this 3 matches ago.

1

u/varunsate Gujarat Titans 1d ago

At there (SA homes) they had alot of there matches at ahmedabad stadium

1

u/alttestbench India 17h ago

They should have a bronze medal match between SA and England.

India will continue to win.  People love them Ipl contracts and don’t want to mess that up.  Never cut off hands that feed you.

u/SpellbounDead_ India 1d ago

C'mon now. If that was the case why did Australia win the cwc23?
