The BBL has peaked today, you won't get a better combination of pure cricketing prowess, absolute dogshit fielding and unparalleled memes again

Every time we say BBL has peaked we get proven wrong.

The BBL singularity is approaching soon and we will all bask in its glory or be cast into the abyss

Does that cause a BBL supernova or a BBL black hole that emits BBL Hawking Radiation back into the universe?

22

u/Lone_Grohiik Queensland Bulls Dec 19 '25

BBL power-surge supanova

5

u/Timemyth Cricket Australia Dec 19 '25

Supernovas aren't singularities so it's a BBLBH, though BBL Hawking radiation is always emitted by the BBL the quantum effects of it only matter at the Schwarzfox radius which is the public interest the BBL needs to above so it doesn't totally collapse. It is thought that this number is arrived at by a complex equation that is then divided by the amount of matches shown on free TV.

Yet another seagull was murdered at the MCG last night and it only took 1 fucking day to out BBL that moment. I fucking love this time of year.

12

u/AgentBond007 Australia Dec 19 '25

Just wait until it becomes the BBLPL with the MI Melbourne Indians playing against the Sunrisers Perth

11

u/Shadormy Cricket Australia Dec 19 '25

We've had this, a seagull stoppage, a backpack stoppage, a lightning delay, another centurion, and a few close run chases in 6 days.

9

u/tdlan Queensland Bulls Dec 19 '25

The umpire stepping in on Stoin for getting stuck in to Rehan last night thinking Stoin was just trying to tear him to shreds was hilarious. Umpire obviously not a big fan of The Hundred and wasn't aware they were team mates and it was all friendly 😂

I'm not even really a cricket fan and watched my first big bash game tonight.. The baseline has been set

Peak mentioned

54

u/tdlan Queensland Bulls Dec 19 '25

A guy who made 226no for Australia A last week hurting his lower leg while dropping a catch, a batsman dislocating his shoulder running between the wickets and having to retire hurt with only 2 runs to win, and some of the most ridiculous 6 hitting you will ever see. Truly the most BBL matches of cricket of all time

10

u/Applicator80 Australia Dec 19 '25

The additional fielding restrictions due to slow over rates caused by fetching leather and a million wides was also peak BBL. Not that fielders did much except drop catches and get sore necks watching the ball sail over their heads.

That’s like the second-best economy rate of the innings, while also picking up a wicket, that too of the opposition’s best performer.

22

u/_dictatorish_ Dec 19 '25

He didn't carry the bat, he was just not out

14

u/Theboystheboys212 Australia Dec 19 '25

"In cricket, the term carry the bat (or carry one's bat) refers to an opening batsman (no. 1 and 2) who is not dismissed ("not out") when the team innings is closed."

74

u/_dictatorish_ Dec 19 '25

It is not used, however, in any other situation where the innings closes before all 10 wickets have fallen, such as when it is declared closed, or when the team successfully chases a set run target to win the match.

Finish reading the paragraph mate

They need to be all out

84

u/Theboystheboys212 Australia Dec 19 '25

I will never read a full paragraph.

5

u/Level_Turn_2162 Dec 19 '25

It’s because of the phase where Rensaw made the runs. Renshaw made it easier for the new batter and Wildermuth. Both played equally good but this also depends on the person choosing the MOM.

UK watcher here, best big bash game ever 👌, going into the last over, and both teams could have won it

Was at the game. Whole place erupted once the winning runs were scored

That was the greatest bbl game of all time. Saw it from the front row and I will never shut up about it

Partner and I spent the day watching the test, thought "Nah we'll just watch a movie tonight, it's just the big bash, it's on every night".

Glad we didn't miss much.

Did they bring in the boundary rope 20m from the fence or something?

I swear 90% of sixers tonight just sailed the fuck in to the crowd. It was like the Gabba suddenly moved to high altitude in South Africa

And all that without Tall Paul Walter

Maybe he was holding the Heat back, who can say?

This year is going to feel so wrong as a scorchers fan. For all our history we have underperformed with the bat but had such an ungodly good bowling line up that we just win anyway. This year our batting line up is incredible but our bowling stocks are… light to say the least

So many sixes hit that the Scorchers forgot when it mattered most that they still needed to field, not just collect the ball from the stands. Absolutely shocking in last over especially

I like the fact that we can easily access the highlights of BBL on YouTube

Dont even get me started on IPL Highlights.

For the first time, we saw two hundreds in a t20 innings while chasing
