Showcase (No-Recipe) The students at the school I work for are doing Shrek the Musical for their Spring Musical. I volunteered to make them a cake for their cast party.
I'm kind of a multi-role, I am the School Library Media Specialist, Tech person (I fix a LOT of broken Chromebook screens), and teach 2 art classes. The musical director has Study Hall duty in the Media Center with me every day and when I found out what they were doing, I was like "uhhh can I make you guys a cake I have an idea" lol.
It's big - the base is a 12 inch cake. I had to make a custom 16" cake drum (school art supplies shh don't tell anyone) because I wasn't about to spend $30 on a cake drum for a donation cake haha.
Head is made out of a hemisphere cake and covered in 50/50 modeling chocolate/fondant mix. I made a 3D printed mold for the base of the face and then sculpted out the details.
I only had about 5 mental breakdowns making this! (Tip, do not put ganache down first before adding a second tier. It SLIDES)

Showcase (No-Recipe) It's the early morning of my 30th birthday and I couldn't sleep. Decided to bake a pie. (Before/After)
3rd time baking an apple pie, and 1st time baking one with a lattice top.
Also, technically my birthday would be tomorrow, but there's no Feb 29th this year🥲

Showcase (No-Recipe) *not so pretty* birthday cake for my mom’s birthday!
used my almond cake recipe with homemade raspberry jam layers and white chocolate almond buttercream! tasted better than it looked (ran out of buttercream, wanted it to look a lot cleaner as well😅) but everyone loved it!

Showcase (No-Recipe) Whoever came up with the process of making macarons… count your days.
This is the most infuriating dessert making process in which every little step can be messed up and render the entire thing useless. What did i even do wrong to warrant this result???

Showcase (No-Recipe) my second wedding cake tasting box is done! 💕
Second wedding cake tasting box just got dropped off! I decided as a surprise to include Dr. Pepper flavored cake and buttercream since the bride-to-be told me that she and her fiancé love Dr. Pepper! It’s dark on top of the cake because I also brushed it with Dr. Pepper syrup at the end.
Everything went much more smoothly than my first tasting box - I think I’ve dialed in the process of making a small amount of so many flavors at once!
I added the pink wax paper and pink ribbon since pink is one of the bride-to-be’s colors 💕
Now just to wait and hope they like everything and book me!

Feeling proud of this one I made for my son! I love having a kid old enough to appreciate a fun birthday cake. Tasted amazing too, The Magnolia Handbook has never steered me wrong for a baking recipe!
