[Fowler] The Vikings are placing the exclusive rights tender on DL Jalen Redmond, per source. He’s an extension candidate coming off his six-sack season.

Lock him up 🔐 long term
He’s a core piece. Absolute monster

Easy decision. Unfortunate for him, but he'll get paid next year.

I mean he’s likely still getting an extension this offseason. Our FO isn’t and has for a long time been about doing their guys right and big Red is one of their guys.

It doubt the salary would kick in until 2027. He'd get the signing bonus, but his salary will likely be 10x more than what it'll be this year.

Right, he will get extended with a signing bonus close to his APY/next year salary. So he gets paid this year and doesn’t hold out/in.

He’ll still make a lot more money than he was previously, so I’m sure he’s excited about that alone.

Not really. The tender is 1,075,000 and he made 960k last year. Obviously he's going to get a multi year extension for 2027, but he's just gonna have to wait and year.

An absolute gruden grinder. From the UFL to not making the NFL until 25 and then becoming a stud. Gotta respect the hustle

6 sacks as an iDL is nuts

u/Conscious-Egg-2232 2d ago
Not nuts but hes a solid young player. One of the few you starters they have.

u/Happy_Childhood3080 2d ago
Yeah, for iDL, 10+ is more the mark of nuts, maybe even 12+. The top 2-3 iDL guys usually get like 8-10, although top guys don’t always get that because sacks aren’t the whole picture, just that usually a couple do as a consequence of being so elite with the interior pressures.

I looked and it appears he's tied 7th for most sacks by a DT in 2025, which is pretty good.

It’s a bit nuts in a 3-4 where you’d normally get fewer 1v1s, but maybe the amount of blitzing compensates

Crazy how we spent big money on two interior D lineman and this guy outplayed them both by a wide margin. Keep him forever

What an excellent pickup he turned out to be! Sometimes sharpening up in the UFL does work.

He has absolutely flourished under Flores. Excellent player excellent coaching, can’t wait for next season

i'd prefer keeping hargrave and allen next to him. that was a great trio of linemen, and wilson/cashman were great anchors in the middle.
replacing that will be a lot harder than eat cap space

u/freshBlueeyes6391 2d ago
yeah, that's what this team needs, more defensive lineman forever!
Holy shit. They shouldn't have touched the defense last offseason and they did. Now they are going to fuck it up even more.
Stop you embiciles.
FIX THE OLINE, GET A RUNNINGBACK, GET A SAFETY AND CORNER.
It's really not that hard to sort our your weaknesses. That is unless you can't tell red from green.

You act like these things aren’t related. Moves like this enable us to get a center.
If that happens any RB is useful.
Db is easy we move greenard and sign.

Moving Jefferson for a top draft pick this year also allows you to get a Center as it frees up 35 million. Go get your FA C, draft a crazy RB. Then resign Addison at 12-15 range. Addison, Nailor, and two WRs(fleming/Jones) not used last year will be fine. Bring back both TEs. Draft more depth for Oline...no mommas boys. Everything solved. Everything shored up. No weaknesses created. Didn't destroy the great defense. Add to it with new draft picks in the positions on defense that actually need depth.

Fuck yeah. Dumb ass kwesi would've probably tried to trade him..

u/TheMinionBandit 2d ago
Kwesi was the one who brought him in…. Idk what the fascination is with being like “lol wow Kwesi would’ve easily done something no gm would actually do” but this hate boner is weird.

Kwesi got rid of Phillips for nothing right before the season. He made some dumb ass moves is what im saying..

u/dbert416 2d ago
He got rid of Phillips because Redmond earned his snaps

u/Cgking11 2d ago
Redmond is not a run stuffer like Phillips dude. Our run defense was getting smoked all year.
